Talamthom News Round-Up

Talamthom-Grand Commonwealth Treaty Signed

Yesterday in The Eagle pub in the centre of Cambridge, England, President Tomás Ó Ceallaigh and Shahanshah of Babkha Ardashir Osmani met to sign a treaty and discuss micronational issues with a healthy number of pints on the menu.

The treaty itself centres itself around the standard Tománnach treaty of recognition whilst at the same time making a commitment to share intelligence on potential threats to each others nation, the establishment of free movement between the two countries and finally mutual defence between the two nations, pending Talamthom's full installation of a military.

The meeting comes on the back of Ó Ceallaigh's decision to formally announce his support of the Grand Commonwealth last week. The President used this meeting with the 'Elderly Micronationist' to discover more about other nations around the world; a particular focus of the questions was around Attera and their history. Talamthom has particular interest as Attera borders their colony Tománn Indo-China.

This meeting marks a high-point in Tománnach foreign affairs and also marks the start of new intermicronational emphasis for the Republic going into the next term. Shireroth is being cited as the most likely place for Talamthom's international relations drive to continue with a revised treaty being the desired outcome.

The EZCrisis Continues

Its heading towards being a week since the start of the EZCrisis in Talamthom and around the world. Despite a high level of posts still being made there is a growing impatience as really constructive work in the Republic is put on hold.

To prevent a similar crisis in the future resulting in the loss of all copies of the bills and amendments the statute book has been moved to a blog. The idea came about following a conversation between the President and Jack Santucci, President of Cyberia. As soon as all posts are restored to the statute book on the forum then they will be moved to their new location immediately.

Golden Harps Go Global

The manager of Golden Harps, Laird Glencairn, has opened a small website in honour of the 2005 TFA Cup and President's Cup champions. The website at present is just one page but there has been more promised for the future.

In addition to this, President Ó Ceallaigh, the owner of Harps, has asked that Glencairn leads Harps to a top two finish in the TFA Premier League next season; this in addition to a good run in the TFA/NZSFA Champions League!!

The Courtyard Resumes Normal Service

President Tomás Ó Ceallaigh has announced the arrival of the New Courtyard (An Clós Nua) as a temporary measure to bypass the problems occuring in the regular Courtyard forum, and indeed the rest of the board.
After seeing some advice on the EZBoard support forums the President said.
"For some reason, known only to ezboard, all new forum pages created after the diasaster are fully funtional and replies work without error messages coming up on screen. Upon the return of posts/function to the Old Courtyard any activities from this one will be moved into it so that we can carry on as normal."
An Clós Nua will remain on the board until the problems on the rest of the board and in An Sean Clós have been fixed. No other forums will receive the same treatment at present as it is hoped the problem will not persist for too long. If the situation isn't rectified by Saturday then the widespread opening of more 'mirror' forums will take place.
In the mean time all citizens or foreign diplomats and well-wishers can post inside in An Clós Nua - this for the time being will be the only functioning point of contact for the Republic.

Treaty With Grand Commonwealth May Be The Greatest Yet

President Tomás Ó Ceallaigh has confirmed that he has been undertaking negotiations with the Grand Commonwealth. Ó Ceallaigh and Ardashir Khan have been looking into formulating a treaty follow the Tománnach President's public expression of support in the Foreign Office.

The treaty is designed to be as brief and yet to the point as possible to avoid complicated treaties like the one San Martin offered to Talamthom before collapsing. Interesting the Dáil chose to reject that treaty outright. It will offer a mutual defence agreement of sorts, pending the full formation of the Talamthom Republican Army, and also offer the potential for a free trade zone to be established.

The treaty will be signed by Khan and the President in a signing ceremony in Cambridge, England, and will be considered as passed pending full ratification by the Dáil during the next term of office. The exact dates for the signing of the treaty are not yet known but it's expected the venue will be one that serves Guinness and a selection of Ales.

The treaty is considered to be the most significant treaty yet for the Republic since the first treaty of mutual recognition, with the Kingdom of Gotzborg, was signed way back in August of last year. This is just a small step in a renewed approach to foreign affairs to be undertaken next term.

Technical Issues Will Not Delay Elections

As many in the micronational community will be aware, EZboard is on the blink. In a statement released by them they say of the attack:

On Tuesday May 31 ezboard's systems were the victim of a very precise and malicious internet attack. This attack resulted in the loss of a significant amount of current and historical board postings and interrupted services across all systems

The same statement goes on to say that initial errors will be fixed as soon as Wednesday but the wait for historical documents may have to wait longer.

Amongst the victims of the attack in Talamthom are the Constitution, the Dáil Tománn, the Ministry of State and the Political Parties. Coupled to this is the loss of many pages of posts from An Clós, An Gairdín and the High Court.

President Tomás Ó Ceallaigh has said in response to this.

In true Tománnach fashion we will not let this nuisance set us back. The election schedule and electoral roll published by LCJ Gladstone stands and the election will go ahead. If the problems persist with ezboard and the situation cannot be rectified then there is a back-up plan in place. I urge citizens to continue posting in any way they can and the Áras an Uachtaráin will keep you up to date on what's going on.

We await any further news from ezboard but the problems are known to be effecting many members of the micronational community. Gold communities are expected to be compensated.
